I am a third-year undergraduate student studying Biomedical Engineering at Arizona State University's Tempe campus. Since the beginning of my freshman year, I have been conducting undergraduate research in Dr. David Brafman's laboratory under the mentorship of Albert Mintah. Our research investigates genetic factors associated with Alzheimer's disease, with my work focusing primarily on variants of the APOE and RELN genes. As I continue my research experience, I am expanding my knowledge of these and other genetic pathways that may contribute to understanding and treating neurodegenerative diseases. Working in the laboratory has strengthened my scientific skills, deepened my passion for biomedical research, and further prepared me for my long-term goal of pursuing a career in medicine.
