Alex Morales

PhD Student

Alex received her bachelors of science in Biomedical Engineering from Arizona State University. During her undergraduate studies, her research activities involved looking at the effect of a high fat diet in rats on insulin resistance in Dr. Richard Herman’s lab. She also evaluated how impedance changes in cardiac and brain tissue can detect heart attacks and seizures in Dr. Bruce Towe’s lab. As a Master’s student in Dr. Madeline Andrews’ lab, she is interested in looking at how changes in cell stress affect cell fate decisions in neural human cells transplanted into the mouse cortex. These studies will clarify the role of metabolism in human neural cell types and work to establish a more endogenous-like model of human brain development. Her hobbies include listening to podcasts, travel, and binge watching tv with her pup by her side.
