Gradi Bamfonga

PhD Student

Gradi received his Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Rochester. During his undergraduate studies his research activities involved an HIV stigma assessment, the development and implementation of stigma reduction interventions in Muslim communities in sub-Saharan Africa (case of Senegal) to improve treatment behaviors, and outcomes for People Living with HIV under the tutelage of Dr. Amina Alio. He also worked as a laboratory technician designing biological experiments while helping manage and coordinate the lab with Dr. Elena Rydkina. As a graduate student in Dr. Madeline Andrews’ lab, he is interested in how signaling interactions and metabolism regulate fate determination and cortical organization in neurodevelopmental diseases. He enjoys playing music on a piano or a guitar, photography, and listening to podcasts outside the lab.
