Annalise Bracher

Medical Student

Annalise is a medical student at the University of Arizona College of Medicine Phoenix. She completed her B.S. in Biology with a concentration in Cell and Molecular at Duke University in 2021. Here she studied the role of RNA localization and translation in radial glial cell endfeet during neurodevelopment in Dr. Debra Silver’s lab. She continued her scientific training through a postbac program at the SENS Research Foundation with the start-up pharmaceutical group Cyclarity, the creator of a novel cyclodextrin compound designed to reverse atherosclerosis. Here she worked on characterizing changes in gene expression and cytokine profile in various in vitro macrophage cell models treated with this compound. In Dr. Andrews’ lab, she is studying the activity of resident immune cells and the cellular signals mediating developmental activity in the brain. In her spare time, she enjoys playing violin, hiking, and reading science fiction!
