Fully Funded Ph.D. Position from Spring 2026

Join an interdisciplinary research team at Arizona State University (ASU) and contribute to the development of sustainable solutions for the structural and transportation infrastructure. ASU’s Damage in Materials and Structures (DaMS) Lab is currently seeking a highly motivated and qualified doctoral student to work on an exciting project focused on sustainable construction materials.

About the Project:

As a doctoral graduate student, you will be involved in cutting-edge research aimed at synthesizing and characterizing biobased materials to solve longstanding challenges in civil and transportation infrastructure. The project will require you to utilize principles of material science, mechanics, data science, and sustainability. About You:

The ideal candidate should have a liking for the research topic and a strong background and interest in material science, experimental methods, statistics, concrete technology, and sustainability. A master’s degree in civil, mechanical, or material science is preferred but not required. Previous research experience in a relevant field, as well as publication in a journal or conference, is a definite plus.
