Graduate Students – Ph.D.

Advent Lab does not have any openings for new PhD students for Fall 2024, Spring 2025, and Fall 2025.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering or related fields
  • Knowledge of computer architecture, embedded systems, digital design and FPGAs
  • Hands-on experience with hardware description languages (e.g. VHDL, Verilog) and programming languages (e.g. C, Python)
  • Good verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in computer engineering or related fields
  • Basic knowledge of Machine Learning or Deep Learning hardware and/or software
  • Experience with FPGA architecture, hardware acceleration, computer performance analysis
  • Some publication(s) in peer-reviewed conferences/journals

  • Currently pursuing a Master’s degree in computer engineering or electrical engineering at ASU
  • Knowledge and hands-on experience with one or more of: Computer architecture, Embedded systems, Digital design, FPGAs, programming languages (C/Python), Machine Learning or Deep Learning hardware and/or software
  • Good verbal and written communication skills

Undergraduate Students – Bachelor’s

The Fulton Undergraduate Research Initiative (FURI) program at ASU is an exciting program that offers funded research opportunities to undergraduate students in the Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering. If you would like to join the FURI program with the Advent lab director as the mentor (starting Spring 2024), see below.

Required Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in computer systems engineering or electrical engineering at ASU
  • Have taken a few of these classes: Computer organization (CSE 230), Computer architecture (CSE 420), Embedded systems (CSE 325), Digital design and FPGAs (CSE 320, EEE 333), Machine Learning or Deep Learning (DAT 402, CSE 475), Programming languages (e.g. C, Python) (CSE 205, CSE 220)
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
