Welcome to the Self Lab <\/strong>at Arizona State University!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Self Lab<\/strong> develops next-generation polymer materials for challenges that matter\u2014water purification, direct air capture, environmental remediation, and plastic waste mitigation\u2014drawing on bio-inspired design principles to push beyond what conventional materials can do.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since beginning in 2023, our primary affiliation is the Biodesign Center for Sustainable Macromolecular Materials and Manufacturing (SM3)<\/strong>, which provides us with access to state-of-the-art facilities and a collaborative community of polymer research groups working at the intersection of chemistry and engineering. Our affiliations with the Center for Negative Carbon Emissions (CNCE)<\/a>, the Global Center for Water Technology (GCWT)<\/a>, and the BioMimicry Center<\/a> reflect the real-world challenges driving our work. Our lab includes students from SEMTE<\/a> (including ChE, MSE, and ME), providing the framework for pursuing multidisciplinary engineering research. We are always looking for motivated students who share our passion for sustainable materials research. If that’s you, we’d love to hear from you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
