It currently handles bulk loads but doesn\u2019t have a container terminal. Since the region has a strong manufacturing presence, the government has unsuccessfully tried to promote the service in the past.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>This new effort in coordination with the Port Authority and industry will analyze, from the customers\u2019 perspective, the benefits of having a container terminal.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>The objectives of the study is to determine under what scenarios the industry of Sonora and Arizona would benefit with a regular container service in the Port of Guaymas started a regular container service; extrapolate the potential demand that companies in Sonora might have of the Port of Guaymas based on the results from the previous analysis; and to use it as a marketing tool for the Guaymas Port and the region.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Main Pacific Ports<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>To achieve this, the project activities are programmed as the following:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\r\n<li>Identify representative products for targeted companies<\/li>\r\n<li>Identify relevant logistics networks, service levels and performance metrics<\/li>\r\n<li>Map supply chain activities with particular emphasis on transportation decisions<\/li>\r\n<li>Historical analysis of performance metrics<\/li>\r\n<li>Identify current and most likely containers routes, infrastructure and associated levels of service<\/li>\r\n<li>Assessment of the impact of a container service in Guaymas on performance metrics of the Company<\/li>\r\n<li>Estimate potential demand for the port of Guaymas based on the results of extrapolation.<\/li>\r\n<\/ol>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>With the study information, is expected that the Port Authority, Shipping Lines, Terminal Operators, Freight Forwarders, Customers, etc; would have grounds to make decisions and promote the establishment of the container service at Guaymas.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Guaymas is one of the main Mexican ports in the Pacific, located 300 miles south of AZ.
