Dr. Hamilton and PhD student Sayalee Joshi visited the laboratory of Dr. Warish Ahmed in the Land and Water Division at the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (CSIRO) for five weeks this past July. CSIRO is the largest government research organization in Australia. Sayalee learned how to perform qPCR and used this technique to examine the occurrence and persistence of antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs) in local waterways (plus, she got to see koalas!).
